Publishing Ethical Policy
Publishing Ethical Policy for the Journal of Contemporary and Applied Social Sciences (JCAS)
The Journal of Contemporary and Applied Social Sciences (JCAS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and research ethics. Our ethical framework is aligned with international best practices for scholarly publishing and the principles of research transparency, accountability, and honesty. All contributors—authors, reviewers, and editors—are expected to adhere strictly to these standards.
1. Research Integrity
Authors are expected to present their findings truthfully and accurately. Any deliberate fabrication, falsification, or selective presentation of data is considered a serious ethical violation. Data and results should be properly recorded, securely maintained, and made available for verification if required. Where privacy, confidentiality, or intellectual property considerations apply, access restrictions may be justified.
2. Plagiarism and Originality
Manuscripts submitted to JCAS must represent original work. The use of others’ words, ideas, or data without appropriate acknowledgment constitutes plagiarism and is strictly prohibited. Likewise, self-plagiarism—reusing one’s previously published work without citation—is unacceptable. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously will result in immediate rejection. Authors are responsible for ensuring all sources are properly cited.
3. Duplicate and Multiple Submissions
JCAS does not accept papers that are under review or have been published elsewhere. Authors must confirm that their submission is unique to this journal. If a duplicate submission is discovered, the manuscript will be withdrawn from consideration without further review.
4. Corrections, Retractions, and Errata
Authors are required to promptly inform the editorial team of any significant errors or inaccuracies discovered after publication.
JCAS may issue:
-
Retractions when data are found to be falsified, plagiarized, previously published without permission, or ethically compromised.
-
Corrections (Errata) for minor but important errors that affect clarity or accuracy.
The journal will also correct issues related to author attribution, such as omitted contributors or misassigned authorship.
5. Ethical Responsibilities in Research
Authors must ensure that their research complies with ethical standards for human and social subjects, including obtaining informed consent where necessary and protecting the confidentiality of participants. Editors and reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential and must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence their judgment.
6. Principles of Research Conduct
All parties involved in the publication process must uphold the following core principles:
-
Reliability – Ensuring sound methodology, accurate reporting, and transparent data use.
-
Honesty – Presenting findings truthfully, avoiding bias, and acknowledging contributions appropriately.
-
Respect – Maintaining regard for participants, colleagues, and the broader research community.
-
Accountability – Taking full responsibility for the research process, from conception to dissemination.
7. Plagiarism Screening
Every manuscript submitted to JCAS undergoes plagiarism screening to ensure originality. The journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Authors found in violation may face manuscript rejection or retraction of published articles.
